Using JRA

JRA helps you find Jewish community services and practical information. Listings are leads, not endorsements. Verify prices, hours, qualifications, availability, and suitability directly. Medical, legal, financial, and halachic decisions require the relevant qualified professional. A food listing does not establish current kosher certification.

“Use my location” asks for your location only when you tap it, through your browser’s own permission prompt. You can say no and type a city or ZIP instead. If you allow it, the choice is remembered on your device only, and “Forget my location” removes it. Your location is only used to sort results by distance: on search, the map and the community boards the sorting happens in your browser; for category listings, events and your town’s name, a position rounded to about 1 km (or the town or ZIP you typed) is sent with that one request and is not stored. Jobs use your town’s name, and Zmanim sends a rounded position to Hebcal to calculate the times. We do not track your location, and it is never used for ads.

Consultation submissions are requests for a 30-minute discussion; an appointment is confirmed only after the owner contacts you. Consultations are general information and research, not legal, medical, financial or halachic advice. Fee and refund terms are confirmed in writing before you pay, with a full refund if the call doesn’t take place. Premium is currently an expression of interest, with no payment or active subscription.

Sharing information

Submit only information you own or are authorized to share. By submitting, you permit JRA to store, edit, organize, combine, and display that information to provide and improve this directory, including future paid services. You retain ownership of your original content. Original reviews and photos are privately reviewed before display. Reviews appear without your account name; do not include private personal details. JPEG and PNG metadata is removed before storage. You can remove your own reviews and photos from My account. Information is reviewed before publication; submission does not guarantee publication.

Do not include private WhatsApp sender details, confidential group discussions, sensitive personal information, or private dating profiles. Share public business facts and your own summary. Do not upload another person’s recordings, photos, reviews, or copyrighted text without permission. Organizations must be authorized to represent their listing. JRA may request verification, correct content, or remove submissions.

What is stored

Account features use your signed-in identity and email. JRA stores your saved listings, submissions, consent records, and consultation contact details so the owner can review and respond. Public business contact fields may be published after review. Consultation requests and account email addresses are not public directory entries.

The Suggest / Add form stores only what you type (and your email, if you give one) so the owner can review it; nothing from it is published automatically.

Only the owner can use the administration inbox. Hosting and authentication providers process information needed to operate the service. Approved source imports record provenance, permission, verification, and recheck dates. External links have their own privacy policies. No advertising profiles or automatic WhatsApp access are configured.

Temporary imported facts are excluded from results when they expire and purged during directory access or owner maintenance. A daily maintenance task is configured; public expiry checks still apply if a run is delayed. Other records remain until an approved removal or retention review; the final retention schedule and processor arrangements are part of the required pre-launch review.

Events & classifieds

Authorized contributors can submit, edit, renew, withdraw, or delete their events, minyan schedules, cars, and housing listings. Public contact details and listing text become visible only after owner review and while consent and expiry remain valid. Editing a published listing returns it to review. Listings are not endorsements or independent verification of property ownership, vehicle condition, or current availability.

Search and open data

Search checks saved JRA listings and resources first. When coverage is limited, supported institution searches may be sent to Wikidata to find additional public-service leads. JRA does not retain the search phrase in its data engine. Do not put personal or confidential information in the search box. Wikidata and hosting providers may process request logs under their own policies.

Open-data leads contain CC0 structured facts with source links, collection dates and field permissions. They are not independently verified, and a collection date does not mean an organization confirmed its current services. JRA does not copy article text, images, reviews or private profiles. Optional Google Maps

When you request Google results, your search and browser connection information are sent directly to Google. Google Maps Platform content is displayed live and is not copied to JRA’s permanent database. Google results do not establish kosher certification or Orthodox suitability. Use is subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy, incorporated here for this optional feature. No Google photos or reviews are requested.

Optional activity reporting

Activity reporting is off until you choose it. Anonymous participation uses a random browser identifier; identified participation additionally records your signed-in email. Public page paths and clicked destination domains or eligible site paths are stored, without search terms or private form contents. Only the owner can view this report. Do Not Track is respected. Reports exclude data older than 30 days, and old records are deleted when activity is next recorded. You can stop and delete this browser’s activity through the preferences at the bottom of each page. Hosting providers may separately process operational logs.

Corrections, deletion & copyright

Send a private request to correct or remove information, withdraw submission permission, request access to your information, or report copyright concerns. Identify the listing or material, explain your request, and provide evidence of authority where relevant. Do not include unnecessary sensitive documents. The owner may need to verify identity and assess obligations before acting.

Requests are recorded for owner review, not automatically fulfilled. You can also use the public contact form. Jurisdiction-specific notices and retention obligations remain under review.
