About JRA
Jewish Research Advisory is a free directory for the frum community: shuls, schools, gemachs, kosher food, services, jobs and events, in one place.
Our story
JRA brings shuls, services, kosher food, jobs and events together in one place, so reliable community information is quicker to find.
How listings are checked
- Every listing comes from the organization’s own website or a public register, with the source and date kept on the listing.
- Food places show only when their hechsher is on the cRc list of recommended agencies and was confirmed on that agency’s own list in the last 7 days.
- The directory is for the Orthodox community. Listings are information, not endorsements, and not halachic rulings.
- Some map and address data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors and public registers, credited on each listing and under Sources & credits.
Sources & credits
- Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0). Map tiles by OpenFreeMap, © OpenMapTiles.
- Map positions for listings that only had a street address: the US Census Bureau Geocoder (public domain) for US addresses, and OpenStreetMap data (search by Nominatim, and the Geofabrik extract for Israel), ODbL 1.0. A position is set only when the street matched inside the listing’s own town. Town centres for “Use my location” come from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0).
- Some places come from the Overture Maps Foundation, under CDLA Permissive 2.0, including data from Foursquare under the Apache License 2.0 (Foursquare notice).
- Israeli registers (Ministries of Justice, Education and Religious Services) via data.gov.il, under the Israel Government Open Data Licence.
- Zmanim and Jewish calendar from Hebcal.com, CC BY 4.0.
- Hechsher status from each agency’s own published list, checked against the cRc list of recommended agencies.
- Each listing names its own source and the date it was checked.
